Being physically active was always part of Abigael’s life; whether it be weights, racket sports, Karate, or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). It was during her time with martial arts Karate and BJJ did she encounter sports with weight-classes. Because of the restriction in weight, she had to either maintain or cut weight. In this time, she tried several diets to compete in her targeted weight division.   

After years of experimenting a variety of diets on herself, she came to the realisation, her performance in her sport was not about restricted eating in the short run; it was about getting familiar with her body again, and consistently eating as needed for the long run gains.  

With a BSc in Biochemistry from the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST), she decided to pursue knowledge through Advanced Certificates and Advanced Diplomas in courses including Clinical Nutrition, Sport & Exercise Nutrition from HKU Space to broaden her exposure and understanding on the purpose of food and their effects on the human body.
