I was just talking to a friend the other day about how life just keeps changing 🦠🏠👨💻.
It made me remember my health goals. When I was younger, I wanted it all 🏋🏻♀️🧠. I wanted to be the smartest, fastest, and/or strongest I could be.
I didn't realise the costs of getting into the best shape
Food🍱, To get into the best shape I could get, I needed to be strict with my eating. While I wasn't depriving myself of any food groups, I had to follow the quantities to a fault. As you can imagine, this added more stress, while taking the fun out of eating.
Training🏋️♀️, and I had to stick to a training regimen for at least 3 months. This meant saying no to social events sometimes.
👩💻 Day job While doing all of this, I had to keep paying the bills so I had to keep this going too.
This was just a few of the factors I had to keep up to be in the best shape I can be. Sadly, it's not a lifestyle that can be kept for long.
As I aged, my target changed. While I wanted to be in great shape; I didn't need to be the strongest 💪🏻, fastest 🏃🏻♀️, or smartest 🤓.
Instead I wanted to be able to DO WHAT I WANT ❤️for HOWEVER LONG I WANT⏳, and ENJOY THE TIME spent 🥳.
When my goal changed, my habits changed. I no longer restricted my eating.
Instead of eating "clean" and measuring my food ALL THE TIME😵, I ate NUTRITION-DENSE meals 80% of the time 🥦🍠🥩 and INDULGED 20% 🍕🍫🍷.
You might ask what 80% means. Let's say you eat 3 meals a day; that adds up to 21 meals a week. 80% would mean approximately 2 of 3 meals would be 🥦🍠🥩, then 1 of 3 meals could have 🍕🍫🍷, if you wanted.
I may not be as lean as I was back then, but I get
😋 to enjoy my food again
😛 less stress when it comes to eating
🤓 to keep getting stronger, more mobile, more knowledgeable
🥰 to have fun on my overall health and fitness journey
It was worth it! ❤️
