Have you ever been on a diet while on holiday? I used to, and believe me, it sucked.
I couldn’t fully enjoy food during my trip, and in turn, I couldn’t full enjoy the trip.
Over the years, I’ve learned that restrictive eating is not necessary to get to physical prowess that I wanted to get to.
And so, my “diet” gradually changed into a lifestyle that was flexible. I can now have my cake and eat it too (at times, literally)
With that in mind, what does that have to do with going on vacation? A lot.
By having that same flexible mindset, you won’t have to feel deprived whenever or whatever you eat.
Rather than adhering to restrictive rules, see them as guidelines to follow to the best of your abilities.
Here are 3 tips you could keep in mind when going on holiday:
Have plenty of vegetables Enjoy what’s in season and/or local to your destination. It’s cheaper and fresher that way too. Bonus: you can even check out the local grocery store if you have access to a kitchen.
Don’t forget to have 1-2 portions of protein – like fish, meat, eggs, or poultry – in each meal. Not only does your body need it; it will also help curb your appetite so you feel full earlier.
Eat in moderation I get it; sometimes the portion sizes are just too big or you wanna try everything (I know I do)! Share food with your friends so you all get to try bits of everything or spread the “big meals” over several days. .
